2nd May 2020

Joe Walby, a young filmmaker based in Southport has been working hard over the last year making a documentary, which has now released on Amazon Prime Video.

It can be found here:

Joe told OTS NewsI produced the film completely independently, working as a one man crew on every aspect of the film, even going as far to creating my own original soundtrack.

2020 VISIONS is a short documentary which explores the lives of 3 young artists as they try to turn their passion into profession. Each at varying points in their careers, their separate stories are woven together into one cohesive narrative about artistic maturity, expression and priorities. The film is a celebration of art and artists, with all their joys, frustrations, passions and fears.

“The film has three subjects, indie musician Sam Da Silva, freelance dancer Olivia Grassot and director/photographer David East. These three personalities are compared and juxtaposed to explore how the views and attitudes of artists change during maturity and what role financial pressures have on young creatives.”

I think now is a good time to spread hope and creativity due to the pandemic. I also think that Southport’s creative community needs to be built up, and artists, such as myself, need to be given more exposure. If you are an Amazon Prime member, the film is free, if not, it is available to rent/buy for a small fee. Watching and sharing it with friends and family supports me massively.

Thanks and all the best,

Joe Walby
