World War One Parade. Sunday 10th August 11:30am

This Sunday a World War One Parade will be taking place as part of the Royal British Legion’s Byng House Commemoration events programme.

The parade will feature the Army Reservists from 156 (North West) Regiment who are based in Bootle, The Southport Sea Cadet Band and Army Vehicles. The parade will be headed by the Royal British Legion Standard Bearers and also taking part in the procession will be the Deputy Lieutenant, Colonel Martin Amlôt.

The parade route will commence from Byng House turning left past the Royal Clifton Hotel onto Coronation Walk, then turning left onto Lord Street, where the parade will make its way towards the Cenotaph. As the parade near the Cenotaph they will turn left onto Neville Street and then turn left back towards Byng House.

A short dedication service will take place at the front of Byng House, where wreaths will be laid and the Deputy Lieutenant will give reflection on World War One.  (The service will take place immediately after the parade has reached it’s return at Byng House)

We are appealing to members of the public and tourists visiting Southport to line the route and come along with Union Jacks and flags to make the parade great and fitting tribute to all those that lost their lives in the World War One. Many of whom where from the Merseyside area.
