Woodlands – Woodlands Winter Market

Woodlands – Woodlands Winter Market

December’s here, advent calendars are opening, Christmas songs are on the radio, the decorations are up and Christmas nights out are in the diary, so why not add a day time treat to that list? One that will not only get you in the festive spirit but also supports a local and really worthwhile cause. Woodlands Animal Sanctuary are holding their second annual Winter Market, their last chance to raise much needed funds this year to see them over the winter.

You can meet huskies, browse the many festive stalls selling lots of handmade bespoke gifts, the kids can meet Santa and have a quiet, or mischievous, time in the elves reading corner before embarking on the elves treasure trail. Take some time out and listen to the festive sounds of the choir before entering your dog into the infamous Woodlands Fun Dog Show. Not to mention the wide variety of delicious food on offer – from homemade cakes, to winter warming soups and steaming cups of coffee and hot chocolate, there are refreshments for everyone; including vegetarians and vegans.

Let’s not forget the reason for all of this wintery activity: Woodlands Animal Sanctuary is an independent registered charity that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes or releases an array of animals and pets; from hedgehogs to cats, to ducks, to goats and ponies. Their small team look after more than 300 animals daily and all of this is funded by their own fundraising activities, donations made by members of the public and sponsorships.

So why not have a relaxed, fun and friendly day out with your family and friends to finish off your Christmas shopping, or even to treat yourself, and at the same time support a local, deserving charity, working on your behalf to improve the lives of animals and pets in the Lancashire area.
