Woodlands – Buy A Bale Appeal

10th December 2019

Winter seems to be really setting in this week and as such the team at Woodlands are ensuring that all of their animals stay dry, snuggly and warm.  The winter months see the animals at the sanctuary spend more time in their homes, stables & hutches and as such the charity spends even more money on straw for bedding.  They spend approximately £3,400 annually on hay and straw for the animals in their care.

Woodlands have therefore launched their Buy A Bale scheme again to help cover this increased cost.  Funds can become even more stretched over the winter months and covering running costs allows the charity to continue to help as many animals as they can over the upcoming festive period.

Ponies, goats, sheep, rabbits and guinea pigs all utilise hay and straw and the cost of these can sometimes vary dramatically depending on the prices from farmers that year.  Being economical with supplies is a large part of how the sanctuary operates, but sometimes costs increase despite their best efforts. With options to buy one or two small bales, or one large bale this scheme caters for everyone’s pocket.

Please visit their website: www.woodlandsanimalsanctuary.org.uk to ‘Buy A Bale’ and help support their animals this winter.

Woodlands also have their last fundraising event of the year this Saturday 14th.  Their Christmas Fayre, this year being held indoors in the warm and cosy Banks Leisure Centre, from 11-3.  Pop along to enjoy all their festivities, including delicious festive treats to suit all tastes – vegan and vegetarian options will be available!  Why not take your dog with you and join in with the fun dog show to really include the whole family in the festivities? Visit their website or Facebook page to get all the details and join them to help raise funds to see them over the winter.
