The emergency services responded to a 999 call shortly 5.15pm this evening, Monday 7 December 2015.
Two appliances from Southport Community Fire Station attended the scene, along with four police response vehicles.
Police directed traffic around the scene whilst the fire service and paramedics carried out their work.
A collision occurred at the junction of Marshside Road and Fleetwood Road. The driver of the Citreon C1 had to be cut free and was taken to Southport hospital.
The condition of the injured is not know at the present time.
