A female driver has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries free becoming trapped in her car after a horrific collision on Southport road (Thursday 16 November).
A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary confirmed the woman had to be cut free from her car before being airlifted to Aintree hospital with a broken leg from a nearby field.
The head on collision involved a black Ford KA and a silver BMW.
The road has since reopened
