A 23-year-old woman has been charged with drink and drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Stephanie Adcock, 23, Burscough is due to appear at South Sefton Magistrates court at 09:45 on Tuesday 30 December 2014.
Merseyside Police is continuing to appeal for witnesses after a serious road traffic collision in Southport in the early hours of Saturday, 14th June.
At about 2.40am emergency services were called to Scarisbrick New Road, outside the Richmond pub, to a report a black MINI had left the carriageway and collided with a tree.
Police and paramedics attended and found the vehicle. The female driver and female passenger, who are aged 22 and 19 respectively, were taken to hospital for treatment.
The driver had sustained a serious head injury and a fractured hip. The passenger, who was in the front seat, suffered a wound to her hand and a back injury. Both women are still in hospital receiving treatment. Their conditions are described as stable.
Collision investigators attended the scene and closed part of the road whilst inquiries into the incident were carried out. A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is on going.
