British Transport Police has issued a CCTV image of a man officers would like to speak to about the theft of a bike from Birkdale station on Sunday, 28 June, shortly before 6pm.

Investigating officer PC Jane McGee said:

“The victim, a 14-year-old boy, secured his GT Zasker 2011 mountain bike to the Sheffield style bicycle racks on the Southport bound platform at Birkdale station.

“At around 5.50pm the bike was stolen and used to cycle to Hillside station where the offender collected a second bike that he had left there earlier. He then boarded a train towards Hunts Cross.”

Officers believe the man in the image could have vital information about the theft and urge him or anyone who recognises him to come forward to assist police with their enquires.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference PSUB/B2 of 05/08/2015. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
