Health leaders from NHS South Sefton and NHS Southport and Formby Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) want to reassure residents that the NHS is here for them if they need it this bank holiday weekend.
For those who need to see their GP, the majority of local practices will be open on bank holiday Friday (8 May) – practices can be contacted online or by phone. People are advised to refer to their GP practice website for opening hour details.
Susanne Lynch, head of medicines management at the CCGs, said: “Most community pharmacies in the area will be open 2-5 pm on bank holiday Friday – people can check their local pharmacy’s website for more details.”
Dr Craig Gillespie, chair of NHS South Sefton CCG said: “If you have any health concerns, I urge you to not delay seeking advice and help during this period. GP practices and pharmacies will be available over the bank holiday to make it as easy as possible for people to get the help they need.
“However, it is important, that people do not go to their GP practice unless they have been specifically advised to do so by a member of the practice staff.”
Dr Rob Caudwell, chair of NHS Southport and Formby CCG, said: “Remember, if you are experiencing coronavirus symptoms, you should seek help and advice first using NHS111online services at: https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 – and only call NHS111 if you cannot get help online.”
