Water bill cuts are just sinking in for resort residents

Bill payers in Southport are rejoicing at news their water bills may due to be slashed.

Southport residents will soon pay less for their water after firms were ordered to reduce the average customer bill by £50 over the next five years.

Regulator Ofwat has placed tougher restrictions on water companies in England and Wales, meaning local households could save some money on their bills.

Ofwatalsooutlinedplanstocut pollution into rivers and streams by almost a third and provide £450 million to explore new water resources such as reservoirs or moving water from to places with less in the event of dry weather.
