WATCH: SUP Stand Up Paddle Board Race On The Marine Lake

SUP North held a stand up paddle board race last Saturday (Feb 27) on Southport Marine Lake. With 35 people taking part and over 50 spectators the event was a huge success.

This race was part of the northern winter race series a group of races held in the north over the winter months.

paddle-41-padle-otspaddle-3-ots-southportEvent organiser, Alan Taylor said: “There where a few main categories, race boards 12,6 and over in size, all round boards under 12’6 in length and children’s race.

“The racers arrived at 11am at Southport sailing club for a safety briefing and the race started at 12.

“The starting line was in front of the sailing club with 5,3 and 1 k distances for the different groups. Conditions where good with only a small amount of wind”.

The first to cross the line was Norman Coburn in a time of 39.05 min Prizes and medals were given out inside the warmth of southport sailing club.
