WATCH | Naked man goes off the rails at Southport station

A rail passenger became so frustrated with no trains running from Southport Station today (Monday 13 March 2017) he attempted to strip naked!

Although it’s not clean how the bizarre protest would have worked in his favour, the man who was clearly intoxicated, took off his shirt and nearly his pants before quick thinking BTP officers swooped in to arrest him.

The argument was over a disputed rail ticket but given the well publicised strikes today, it’s unknown why the male decided to hold his bizarre nude protest

He was later taken to a nearby police station for questioning.

Why are Merseyrail train staff striking today?

New state-of-the art trains that are safer, faster and more reliable will be introduced on the Merseyrail network by 2020.

The RMT union, who represent many Merseyrail guards, has voted for strike action as the new fleet will be driver-controlled operation.
