BTP has invested tens of thousands of pounds in a vehicle fitted with the latest technology in a bid to reduce accidents and keep trains running on time.

The surveillance van monitors level crossings with three cameras including a periscope camera to deter motorists from running the red warning lights.

This morning (Wednesday 5th September 2012) the van was watching over Birkdale level crossing from a distance opposite the Park Hotel.
