Fire crews tackle blaze on Rufford Road

Fire crews from Lancashire Fire service are giving members of the public an opportunity to see inside Tarleton Fire Station, put on some fireman’s kit and watch equipment demonstrations, as part of a recruitment drive for retained firefighters from the local area.

Retained firefighters provide a back-up service to full- time staff and are paid a salary and receive compensation for when they are called out and for training.
The open day at Tarleton Fire Station, Hesketh Lane,
will take place on Saturday March 9 between 10am and 2pm.

Event organisers say the intention is to hopefully gain some new members by showing how rewarding it can be to represent the community they live and work in. Candidates will be required to complete application and medical forms; take fitness and psychometric tests, and take part in a practical assessment day and interview.
