W.L.MG.O.C Pride of Ownership (rescheduled) 21/07/16

By On The Spot News22nd July 2016

W.L.MG.O.C Pride of Ownership (rescheduled) 21/07/16

Thursday 21st June was our club night and it should have been our Pride of Ownership where all the club members give their cars a little bit more attention than usual but if you live in the West Lancs area you would have known that we suffered the worst rain fall for many a year.

Skelmersdale,Bickerstaff and surrounding areas suffering the worst with the rain falling from the sky in what could only be described as biblical proportions. With many areas under flood or flooding as the rain settled to the lower grounds it was decided that we would have to cancel (this has only ever happened 3 times in the 35 year history of the club) and so we had to rearrange for 21st July our next scheduled monthly club meeting which was TONIGHT.

mg2 ots newsAs we compete against each other in are very own car show and with four categories Premier Standard,Premier Modern,Standard, and Modern.

So with all the washing, waxing, hoovering and tyre dressings applied the judging began this is done by the members themselves voting which they believe to be the best of the categories (whilst not being allowed to vote for there own car) because let’s face it we all believe our own cars to be the best in the show!!

    And the cars on show we’re 5 MGB’s,2 MGG-GT’s,2 MGTF’s,1 MGF,2 Midgets,1 1954 TF,1 1946 TC,1 MGC,1 MGA,2 RV8’s and a MG 6 in all 19 cars where on show along with 39 adult members and 1 junior member (Tom).

At least this month the weather was sunshine and cloud with just a few spots of rain appearing on the night and that didn’t last very long (thankfully).

mg4 ots newsWith all the judging over and the judging slips handed in the long wait begins as the winners will not be announced until our October meeting when the winners will be presented with their trophy’s.

As it was late July we all stayed out in the car park a little longer enjoying the summer night and warm temperatures and also chatting about each other’s cars with the wives, partners and girlfriends gathering around and enjoying a drink in the fresh air. But as day turned to night we all made our way inside to carry on the monthly meeting of matters to hand of running a successful car club along with our raffle of which there are many prizes to be won.
