The west lancs MG owners club held there monthly meeting tonight Thursday 16th June and this was a bit “special” as all funds raised go into our pot to help deserving charity’s at later dates with £730 donated so far this year.
We held a garage auction all the members have a clear out of their garages and bring along anything that is car, garage, tool related that has been hanging around and just generally been getting in the way or under your feet in the garage (or for some obscuring the view of the TV or even cluttering up the draining board in the kitchen) well we’ve all been there haven’t we?
So with no further ado the auction got under way our auctioneer for the night was Noel Skinner gavel in hand and his porter Nigel Malyan and with the lots at the ready we commenced our auction.
With the lots coming thick and fast items that where up for bids ranged from car manuals, air horns, chrome spinners, mirrors and even a welding unit! Plus some garden equipment (because when you own a MG you don’t have time for gardening as you spend most of your spare time with your head under the bonnet trying to fix it)!
On the night some 41 members attended the auction and a total of £267 was raised which goes into our pot for making charitable donations at a later date.
In all a very successful night was had with most of the members bidding on items and others relieved that they had finally cleared a bit of room in the garage to finally be able to fit the car in again.
Special thanks go out to Briars Hall for letting us use one of there function rooms for our auction and to Noel Skinner and his little helper Nigel for overseeing the proceedings.
