SEFTON Advocacy has teamed up with 107.9 FM Mighty Radio to celebrate the work of their volunteers across National Volunteers’ Week, June 1st to 7th.

Sefton Advocacy service is currently looking to recruit new volunteers to join our fantastic team.

We are not a legal service, nor do we give advice. The service assists individuals across Sefton to address issues which are affecting their lives and wellbeing, as well as support to make important decisions or changes to their lives.  We are a generic service supporting people who are, or feel, simply vulnerable or overwhelmed in a given situation.

We bring over 40 years of advocacy experience to the people of Sefton, helping anyone from age 18 upwards.  This is a free, independent and confidential service, where paid staff and volunteers work in partnership with individuals, in a non-judgemental way, to have their say and have more choice and control within their lives.  We are a registered charity that depends on volunteers, to be able to continue to deliver a high quality service, from our base in The Shakespeare Centre, on Shakespeare Street, Southport, working across Sefton.

“I have been in my role for a year now and am so happy to work with such an amazing group of volunteers, who possess a massive range of skills and qualities”.

“We are lucky enough to have ex Teachers, University Lecturers, Nurses, Social Workers, CAB Workers, Police Officers, a Health and Safety Manager, a Health Manager, a Medical Doctor, to name but a few, but equally as valuable, are those who bring their own invaluable life experiences and knowledge to their roles as Volunteer Advocates and Reception/Administration Volunteers”.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to get involved in rewarding work, in a range of different situations, and is undertaken for a multitude of reasons, such as up-skilling, gaining experience for future employment, or simply to give back and help people when they ask for help. We offer a vital service to the community, and genuinely change people’s lives for the better.

Sefton Advocacy are currently looking to recruit more volunteers, to meet the ever-increasing demand for our service. If you would like an informal chat about becoming a Sefton Advocacy Volunteer, please call Jo on 01704 500500.

107.9 FM Mighty Radio, which broadcast’s across the Southport coast, will be interviewing volunteers and staff during volunteer’s week, and these will be broadcast across this week on Cassie James’s show between 10am and 1pm.
