Volunteer Ambassadors wanted for Open Golf Championship.

A Sefton volunteer organisation is looking to recruit people to welcome visitors and promote the borough during next month’s British Open golf championship at Birkdale.

Volunteer Centre Sefton – part of Sefton CVS – is appealing for residents to work as Sefton Volunteer Ambassadors during the event which runs from 20th-23rd July.

Ambassadors will be located at key locations in and around Southport to greet visitors when they arrive, provide them with directions and signpost them to other services or attractions in the area.

Nancy White of Volunteer Centre Sefton explained: “The British Open provides a unique opportunity for Southport and Sefton to showcase what’s great about our area.

“We’re hoping for a very good response from local people who want to work as Ambassadors, and who are keen to highlight and promote what the borough has to offer.

“Ambassadors will act as the public face of Sefton, offering a friendly welcome, great local knowledge and an enthusiastic attitude, all of which will help to give golf enthusiasts the best-possible experience of the borough during their visit to this prestigious event.”
