The line up for this year’s British Musical Fireworks Championship held in Southport has just been unveiled with tickets now available for the explosive event.

Seven world class pyrotechnic companies will fight to win the much coveted title at Victoria Park, home of the Southport Flower Show from October 2-4.

Each spectacular display will be performed and synchronised to a wide selection of music from classical to chart favourites and will last around 20 minutes.

The competition gets off with a bang on Friday, October 2, with last year’s champion Smart Pyrotechnics defending their title. They will be followed by The Fireworkers, an East Yorkshire based company brand new to the event.

Saturday, October 3, welcomes three wonderful competitors – Fantastic Fireworks, who competed in the first ever competition back in 1999, Midnight Storm Fireworks from Scotland and Selstar Fireworks from West Sussex.

The final evening, Sunday, October 4, sees displays from Brighton’s Brightfire Pyrotechnics and F1 Pyrotechnics who close the championship. West Sussex based F1 Pyrotechnics and Brightfire Pyrotechnics are both new to the competition.

Last years event didn’t run so well, spectators reported burns to clothing and ‘hot debris’ caused a large fire in the sand dunes close to the Eco centre.

Mark Catherall, Sefton Council’s Service Manager for Tourism, said:”Last year we had record crowds at the event and hopefully it will be the same in 2015.

“Victoria Park is a great venue for the competition which brings visitors to the town from across the whole North West putting Southport and Sefton on the map.

“Tickets have just gone on sale for this explosive event so please try and get them as early as possible.”
