Video: Female Police officer left with a bloody face after being assaulted by a pensioner in Southport

Police were called to Tesco Express Albert Road, Southport, Merseyside, approximately 1.30pm today, January 25 2015.

A suspected female shoplifter aged around 65 years allegedly assaulted a female officer whilst being arrested on suspicion of shoplifting.

5 response cars and three riot vans attended the Albert Road store.

A shopper said: “I thought there had been a bomb scare, I have never witnessed so my many officers at one incident.”

Another shop said: “The male officer taking the pensioner to the riot van used unnecessary force”.
