Vandals smash up benches then throw them into Marine Lake  

Vandals have struck again in Kings Gardens, Southport after spending the early hours of this morning destroying benches and throwing them into the Marine lake.

The latest in a string of incidents, the benches were kicked and smashed up before being chucked into the water sometime between 5am and 7am this morning.

A local dog walker reported hearing what they thought to be building work – later realising the sound of hammering was actually the destruction of the benches to the North side of the lake.

Police are investigating the incident and are asking anybody with any information to call 101.
