Overs of vans and utility vehicles in Southport are being warned to make sure they’re taking extra steps to see their vehicle is secure after would be thieves were caught trying to steal a van a few nights ago.
CCTV footage caught two men, who have as yet been unidentified, attempting to steal a large transit van from Poulton Road in the Meols Cop area of Southport on Monday October 5th.
The incident happened around 9pm and footage shows two men casing the vehicle unaware they are on camera for around 5 minutes before leaving the scene.
At one point one of the males gained access to the van and removed an ignition barrel. The van’s owner believes they were intent on stealing the van, which had been left empty, but later left the scene.
Police have been contacted over the incident. Anyone with any information should call 101.
