Urgent Fernley Plea for Minister or Priest to Bless the Lifeboat and Crew on New Year’s Day

Urgent Godly assistance required – because New Year’s Day falling on a Sunday, The Fernley is currently unable to find the assistance of a Minister, Reverend or Priest to assist with the short ceremony at the 1886 Obelisk on New Year’s Day at 1115-1135 hrs. This is a major feature of the ceremony and currently we do not have a man or woman of ‘the cloth’ to conduct the short service and act of remembrance for the lost. This year the event will signify the 130 year so even more urgency to find this person to assist with this symbolic Sandgrounder event. Last years service was led by Rev Peter Knight from Leyland Road Methodist Church.

Events organiser Jonathan said ‘This is an urgent plea to all those of the cloth. We desperately need someone to assist on this special Southport Day. The thought of not having a suitable Minister or Priest to bless the Southport Lifeboat men, women and craft is a concern. If anyone one knows of someone please get in touch’

If you can assist then please get in touch with Jonathan Cunningham or the rest of the Fernley Team on Southport 01704 320008 or visit the website at www.thefernley.co.uk for more details.
