Contractors for Travelodge have started to dismantle the front metal veranda on the Ribble Building, Lord Street, Southport.   The Grade II listed former bus station will be turned into a six-storey, 101-bedroom hotel & restaurant complex.   The building will also include major international restaurant with work expected to be completed early 2013 creating 20-30 new jobs.

The dilapidated eyesore has been empty for more than 10 years and has been plagued by a string of failed proposals.
