UPDATE | Southport FC devastated after break in

Southport Football Club can confirm that the Merseyrail Community Stadium was broken into on the evening of Sunday 30 December.

The club are extremely devastated, as substantial damage has been caused in a part of the main stand in what was a well-prepared and thought-out attack.

There is currently an on-going investigation with Merseyside Police and the club would like to thank local residents, volunteers and staff who alerted and attended shortly after the break-in.

We would also like to appeal to anyone in the local area who may have any additional information to share that may help the police in their enquires, particularly any suspicious activity around the ground or loud noises.
