Merseyside Police can confirm a 59-year-old man was charged with sexual assault following an alleged incident in Southport on Wednesday, 4 February.

At approximately 3am, police were called to a report of a sexual assault in a car.

The 30-year-old victim and a friend had got in the vehicle after leaving the Fox and Goose pub in Cable Street at about 2.05am on Wednesday, 4 February.

Ian Charles Grassick, of Staveley Road, Southport has been charged with sexual assault and appeared in South Sefton Magistrates’ Court today (Monday, 9 February 2015).

He has been released on conditional bail to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, 8 June 2015.
