UPDATE | CEO, Natalie Atkinson departs Southport FC

27th March 2019

It is with regret that Southport Football Club can confirm the departure of Natalie Atkinson as Chief Executive Officer,  Natalie having decided that the time is right to now pursue a fresh challenge within football.

In January 2018, Natalie was employed to implement a series of objectives from the Board and over the course of these last 12 months, Natalie has laid the foundations and implemented a number of key initiatives, which have in turn enabled the Club to move forward in its goals for progression, modernisation and particularly the ability to be self-sufficient.

The initial aim was to raise the profile of the Club both locally and nationally, but Natalie has been at the heart of several other projects too, including working towards securing a grant for the end of season pitch works from the Football Foundation, securing a potentially long term partnership with Everton FC, receiving additional funding to launch a community programme through the National League Trust, building and recruiting a professional off-field management team, guiding the Club alongside the Board of Directors through the first phase of re-development, implementing an events and hospitality package and putting a strategy in place which this season saw more season tickets sold than ever before.

Speaking ahead of her departure Natalie said:  “Working behind the scenes over the last 12 months with a great team to raise the profile of the Club has been incredible, and I am very proud of what we have achieved together. The year has had its ups and downs, but the Club’s vision to be a success and a Club that the town is proud of is unquestionably one step closer.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to place on record my thanks to Phil and Ian for the opportunity at the football club and I will take with me many great memories.

“The final ‘thank you’ must though go to the team, fans, volunteers and staff – it’s been a year that I will not forget and one I will look back on fondly, as I head towards my next challenge!”

The Board do of course wish Natalie every success in her career as she progresses forward within football, and look forward to welcoming her back as both a fan and friend of the Club in the future.
