A police escort with a difference caused quite the stir this afternoon after a rarely sighted Police HGV was given a blue light escort through Southport.

The massive mobile tactical command unit was given a four police car strong escort from Southport Police Station heading in the direction of Liverpool.

The blue light escort was needed given the significant size of the HGV.

One clothing store owner snapped a photo of the vehicle passing by and sent it to OTS News.

She said “it was mightily impressive and not something you see every day.

“It’s Lord Street so a police siren or two isn’t the most uncommon thing to hear but when I saw that huge van I really took notice.

“It wasn’t moving at great speed but it had a four car escort and looked like it was heading all the way down Lord Street towards Birkdale.”
