Police and fire crews have closed off part of Knowsley Road and Alexandra Road in Southport following a smash between two vans this afternoon.
Both vehicles were written off in a head on smash at the junction which has caused a traffic nightmare for local residents.
Fire crews remain on scene to clear the debris while police are asking motorists to avoid the area
