Two young men had to be rescued by a RNLI hovercraft after they were trapped by the incoming tide at about 8:10pm last night (Tuesday 14th August 2012).

The men were walking from Southport to Crosby when they got standed  on a  sandbank at the mouth of the River Alt 

They  were rescued  in a joint operation by coastguard, fire-fighters and the RNLI.
