Two idotic brothers from the Wirral have appeared in court after they travelled to a police crime scene to rob the place.

The police discovery of a large cannabis farm at Blowick Business Park on Crowland Street, on January 16, said to be have an estimated annual yield of £1.9 million, was widely reported and caught the attention of Jamie Sendall, 26, of Holly Grove, Tranmere, and Steven Sendall, 28, of Cleveland Street, Birkenhead.

As the men appeared at Sefton Magistrates Court on March 17, where they were sentenced for burglary, prosecutor Angela Conlan said: “Police had recently been called to a unit in Crowland Street in Southport. Basically it had been found to house a large cannabis farm. Following on from that, a day or two later, police called by having been told that three males had entered the premises. When the officers attended, they can see that wooden boards that had been securing the site had been ripped off.

“The officers entered the actual unit, with one remaining at the entrance in case they tried to exit.”

Mrs Conlan said that the three males were located and asked about what they were doing: “They basically said that they had read about the cannabis farm and decided to come around and have a look and see if there was anything there to pick up,” she said.

Mrs Conlan said that the third male had previously been sentenced to a community order. She informed the court that Jamie was jailed in 2015 for violent disorder and drugs offences while his brother was given a suspended prison sentence for violent disorder and assault.

Both men represented themselves, with Jamie saying, “I apologise, it was stupid”, and Steven saying, “Curiosity got the better of me. It won’t happen again.”

The magistrates sentenced Jamie to 12 weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, along with an eight-week 8.30pm-8.30m curfew; and Steven to eight weeks imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, along with an eight-week 7pm-7am curfew. Both were ordered to participate with 15 days of a rehabilitative activity and pay £200 in associated costs.
