Police have partly closed off Portland Street this evening following a crash at an accident blackspot.
Two cars are understood to have collided at the junction with Cemetery Road near to the Texaco garage, the latest of more than a dozen accidents at the crossroads in recent years.
Campaigners and nearby residents have repeatedly called for additional safety measures at the junction.
Multiple units from both Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire & Rescue were called to the scene and remain on site.
One car, a Honda SUV, remains blocking the road as of 6:15pm.
A second car collided with the wall of a residential property nearby narrowly missing hitting a parked car.
Nearby residents told an OTS reporter that they were “sick” of accidents in the area, highlighting a number of crashes on the junction in the past several months alone.
The junction of Portland Street and Cemetary Road remains closed in all directions this evening.
