Passengers needing to get to and from Southport are being given rail replacement busses, while Arriva have said they will accept train tickets on their 47 and 300 services.
Stagecoach’s X2 route will also take train tickets during the disruption.
A Merseyrail spokesperson said “Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Formby and Hightown, services are suspended between Hall Road and Southport.
“Rail replacement buses are in operation between Hall Road and Southport.
“Ticket acceptance is in place on Arriva 47, 300, Stagecoach X2 and Local Southport bus services.”
