Town centre ban for prolific shoplifter

4th May 2018

A Woman with nearly 200 offences on record has been banned from entering Southport town centre for two years.

Sara Wlson, 41, of Eastbourne Road, Southport, appeared at Sefton Magistrates Court where she pleaded guilty to theft of £49.97 worth of perfume from Lord Street’s B&M store.

Prosecutor Angela Blackmore said that the Crown Prosecution Service and Merseyside Police were seeking a criminal behaviour order preventing Wilson from entering large parts of Southport and in particular not to enter Debenhams, Boots, and Lidl stores.

She said: “By virtue of the fact that we are seeking a criminal behaviour order would suggest that the defendant has a number of convictions. She has 194 offences on record over an 18 year period – 150 of those relate to matters of dishonesty.

“The defendant does have a dreadful history of theft from shops, particularly in this area.”
