29th July 2021

Tommy Fleetwood ended day 1 of the men’s individual category for golf in the Olympic Games one under par, which sees him joint 31st on the leaderboard.

Taking place at the Kasumigaseki Country Club, four days of stroke play will conclude on Saturday.

Ahead of play Fleetwood said: “I’m excited, just bubbling to get going with the Olympic experience.”

“There’s tonnes of different sports and a bunch of different athletes. Even though we all do something different, I’m guessing we all have a lot of things in common.

“There’s no trepidation at all. I’m just really, really excited to get going and experience it and compete.”

Play was suspended by thunderstorms while Fleetwood was on the course.

Round two of the men’s individual golf starts at 23:30 this evening.
