R.I.P Tom Glover OBE

Ex Southport councillor, Tom Glover OBE, has died following a suspected stroke.

Mr Glover, who served on Sefton Council from 1973 to 2012, died on Sunday, June 9. The great-grandfather served as a councillor for 50 years both on Southport Borough Council and subsequently Sefton Council; he was Leader of both Councils between 1971 and 1981.

In May 2018, the grandfather of three and his wife, Jackie, celebrated a sparkling occasion in the Lake District – their Diamond (60th) Wedding anniversary. The couple, from Southport, met in 1956 while at a Saturday night dance at Southport Floral Hall. They married on May 10, 1958 in Southport and lived in the town ever since.
