WEATHER WARNING

The tail end of Storm Gareth will continue to bring high winds to the north west coastline this weekend ahead of Storm Hannah, which is forecast to bring snow to the north west.

Storm related incidents can cause high demand for the emergency services. Please help to reduce incidents by taking the following steps:

At home, please secure any items of garden furniture that could blow into traffic. Likewise, if you can wait until the morning to put wheely bins out, please do, as they can be difficult for drivers to see in the dark.

On the roads, in high winds, care is needed by drivers of high sided vehicles on the Formby By-Pass and on coastal roads.

Bikers and cyclists should consider if their journey is essential and can alternative transport be used?

Care is needed by pedestrians to consider falling debris or trees.
