Traffic wardens accompanied by police ticketed dozens of motorists outside Edge Hill University, Tuesday 6 October 2015.

Police released the following statement via social media: “St Helens Road in Ormskirk is a clearway, and it is therefore an offence to park within the designated zone on that road.

This afternoon local police went down the length of St Helens Road and issued fixed penalty notices to all parked vehicles”.

Michelle Pinnington said:

My five-minute journey took me 40 minutes one morning and my child was late to school, without setting off at 8am and sitting outside school for an hour isn’t helpful and of course me being late for work too. Every morning County Road is bumper to bumper and fiveways lights don’t help either, already rung LCC about the amount of accidents due to lights”.

Rob Brighouse quoted:

It’s been chaos round there for a while now, about time it was dealt with. The councils traffic wardens should have dealt with this long ago and not left it to the police.

Neil James Carey said:

I drove past there before and there must of been about 50 cars all with fines on”.
