Three released on bail over Southport stabbing

The two men arrested over a machete attack in Southport have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

A third man who was arrested later on yesterday(Monday 25 July) has also been bailed.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson yesterday confirmed a 28-year-old man from Ainsdale and a 29-year-old man from Kew were arrested on suspicion of wounding.

Two brothers from Southport aged 21 and 25 – were attacked in King Street at around 4.15pm.

One man suffered injuries to his arm while the other had wounds on his neck and back. Police said the victims were both aged in their 20s. Both men were taken to hospital.

All three have since been discharged.

Detectives are treating the incident as a targeted attack and continue to appeal for witnesses to call them on 0151 777 3055 or leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
