Three arrested after 15-year-old was struck over the head with a mallet in Ainsdale

Merseyside Police can confirm three males were arrested last night (Thursday, 16 February 2017) in Ainsdale following a disturbance.

At about 10.05pm officers were called to a property on Sandbrook Road to a report of a group of people fighting.

It was also reported that a 15-year-old girl had been assaulted when she was struck to the head using a mallet.

A window was reported to have been damaged at a property, and damage caused to cars.

The 15-year-old girl has been taken to hospital for treatment to facial injuries where she remains in a stable condition.

A rubber mallet, knuckle duster and a kitchen knife have been recovered from the scene and taken for forensic examination.

A 19-year-old man from Southport, an 18-year-old man from Birkdale and a 13-year-old boy from Ainsdale have been arrested for affray and on suspicion of assault. They have been taken to a police station in Merseyside to be interviewed.

An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is underway.
