Southport food and drink festival 2017.

Thousands of people flocked to Victoria Park to sample some of the UK’s best food and drink stalls with good weather helping to keep visitors in the park for hours.

Whether it was to sample such delights as Persian Street Food kebabs, wood-fired pizzas, speciality beers from the Tap and Bottles or gins from Southport’s Remedy Bar, the Food and Drink Festival had it all. The superb setting of Victoria Park played host to the Sefton Council-run event, which this year celebrated its eleventh birthday.

Visitors were able to choose dishes and delicacies from around the world including ostrich burgers, curry, pizza, burritos and buffalo wings, to name but a few! For younger visitors, the Children’s Festival provided hours of entertainment while craft activities were provided with storytelling, critters, face painting, balloon modeling and much more.

Mark Catherall, Tourism Service Manager at Sefton Council, said: “Record numbers of visitors enjoyed this year’s 11th Southport Food and Drink Festival, which offered even more great street food, producers, bars and a huge range of family activities than last year. “All of this combined with the great weather drew a huge crowd of over 35,000 visitors across the three days and the feedback has been amazing.

“This is just the start of an exciting events programme for Southport with The Open next month, followed by The Air Show and then The British Musical Fireworks Championship – there really is going to be something for everyone.”
