This is the Season to be Giving
Cancer Research Charity to benefit from local festive fundraiser
A local fundraising committee will ensure Christmas comes early to Aughton, with its annual festive coffee morning, to raise money for North West Cancer Research (NWCR).
The event will take place on Tuesday 25th November from 10am – 12pm at the W.I. Hut on Town Green Lane, Formby, near Southport.
There will be stalls selling NWCR merchandise and Christmas cards as well as homemade cakes, books and bric-a-brac and a raffle with prizes donated by local residents and businesses.
All proceeds from the morning will support NWCR and fund research projects which will help increase our understanding of cancer and how to better detect, treat and prevent it. This year alone the charity has funded £2million worth of research including at nearby University of Liverpool, as well as at Bangor University and Lancaster University.
Carolyn Kinsey, secretary of the Aughton Committee, said: “We’ve been supporting NWCR for over 10 years and have always enjoyed hosting the Christmas tea and coffee morning.
“It’s a great way to spread the word about the importance of the research NWCR is carrying out and raise funds to support the work the charity does locally to develop our understanding of cancer which directly benefits people across the North West.”
Entrance costs £1.50 and includes tea, coffee and a mince pie with tickets available on the door.
