There are no actual major gas leaks in Southport tonight.
The source of the smell is still a mystery however two separate emergency services have checked and both failed to discover ANY trace of gas or a leak.
You may have also read that an apartment complex was evacuated. This was done purely as a precaution.
WARNING! Possible major gas leak reported across Southport
The Nation Grid reported “You are advised to urgently turn off your gas supply if you live in Southport tonight after reports of a huge and potentially dangerous gas leak in the area.”
OTS News can confirm that a gas leak has been reported and is currently being investigated by the National Grid as a matter of urgency.
In the meantime residents are asked to shut doors and windows and refrain from lighting naked flames.
It is currently unknown how long it will take to locate the issue.
