Tony Roberts, a Southport-based entrepreneur and founder of The Picnic Club has been working hard to develop something unique and very special for February 2027.
“The idea began after countless nights out that all seemed to follow the same repetitive format—visiting the same bars, restaurants and venues, with very little that felt genuinely new or memorable. I wanted to create something completely different: an evening people would not simply attend, but truly experience.”
On 13 and 14 February 2027, that idea will become a reality when The Picnic Club—the UK’s first immersive indoor picnic experience—comes to St George’s Hall, Liverpool.
For Valentine’s weekend, one of the country’s most iconic buildings will be transformed beneath an ever-changing projected sky. Guests will be taken on a cinematic journey through dramatic storms, clearing blue skies, golden sunsets, a spectacular night sky and the Northern Lights.
The experience will combine luxury picnic-style dining, cocktails, atmospheric music, a live cellist and a live DJ set.
Guests can choose from a range of seating experiences, from relaxed pillows and upholstered pouffes around low picnic tables to traditional chair seating and the elevated Stargazer Gallery.
“Although the event is taking place in Liverpool, The Picnic Club was created here in Southport. I’m incredibly proud to be developing a new experience from my hometown and bringing the concept to life on such an ambitious scale.”
“The response since tickets were released has been extremely encouraging, with people travelling from across the region to experience something that has never previously been staged in this format in the UK.”
