Expanding the branch network to 18 locations and further enhancing a community broker strategy….

The County Group are pleased to announce that we have acquired G.R. Plimbley, based in Biddulph, Staffordshire.

G.R. Plimbley was founded in 1958 and has both personal lines and commercial clients. They are well known in the local community and the branch is right in the centre of Biddulph. The previous owner, Steven Plimbley, remains to run the branch assisted by a highly experienced team.

Dave Clapp, CEO of The County Group, commented “We are delighted that G.R. Plimbley are joining The County Group in the next step of our journey. Community broking is at the heart of everything that we do and Plimbley’s have an excellent location and client base which fit well into our strategy. They have been trading for 58 years and are a family run business with a knowledgeable team.”

“This increases our branch network to 18 locations and reinforces our belief that whilst the internet and social media maybe used as a research tool, customers really value traditional face-to-face service and advice on something that is as vital as their insurance policies.”

Steve Plimbley, owner of G.R. Plimbley, adds: “It is a big decision to sell the family business after so many years but having met extensively with several key members of The County Group, I knew the business would be in safe hands. I have followed the progress of previous brokers they have purchased and County have enriched the product offering and general back-office support without changing the brand, staff or location. That is something that really appealed to me. I look forward to supporting the continued growth of Plimbley’s and embracing our new status as part of The County Group”.
