5th April 2021

19th Southport Scout Group based in the scout hut on Radnor Dive which shares their site with Autism Initiative’s “We Grow” are on a mission to recycle and raise valuable resources for their group.

So far, the busy scouts have recycled over 20,000 crisp packets, 5500 bread bags, 3500 biscuit wrappers and over 500 Pringles tubes through TerraCycle.

TerraCycle is an organisation who are eliminating the idea of waste by recycling the “non-recyclable.” Whether it’s coffee capsules from your home, pens from a school, or plastic gloves from a manufacturing facility, TerraCycle can collect and recycle almost any form of waste. They partner with individual collectors, as well as major consumer product companies, retailers, manufacturers, municipalities, and small businesses across 20 different countries and are able to divert millions of pounds of waste from landfills and incinerators each month.

The 19th Southport Scouts currently recycle all brands of crisp packets, Pringles tubes, plastic biscuit wrappers, all Ferrero Roche packaging, plastic cheese wrappers, plastic bread bags, Carex, Imperial Leather and Bayliss & Harding hand pumps and refill packs, floor wipes packaging and any of the large packaging dishwasher tablets come in.

All of the above can be left in the bins situated outside the scout hut.

The waste is recycled and allows them to raise funds towards the upkeep of their scout hut and grounds.
