Terrified passengers duck for cover after yobs shoot out train windows

Terrified children ducked for cover after cruel yobs shot at a train in Southport tonight, Monday 19 June.

The 6.02pm Merseyrail service from Birkdale to Liverpool was leaving the Weld Road station when it allegedly came under fire from yobs who took to peppering one of the cabin’s windows with an air rifle.

Commuter Paul Preston was on the train at the time and said: “Our train was shot at with an air rifle or some kind of pellet gun.

“It smashed the window and children were scared.”

A spokesperson for Merseyrail told OTS News: “We are investigating an act of criminal damage of a train at Birkdale train station. A member of the public reported a damaged window to the driver of the train. We ask if anyone has any information to call British Transport Police on 0800 405040 or text 61016 with the reference 459 of the 19th June.”
