Tea Rooms Gin is coming on 14th March

3rd March 2017

Tea Rooms Gin is coming on 14th March.

The Tea Rooms in Birkdale is teaming up with Birkdale Craft Distillery to provide their customers with their very own bespoke premium gin and they will be key in choosing it..

Following the format for the highly successful event that launched Birkdale Gin, 30 lucky drinkers will get the chance to blind taste 5 different blends and vote on them for qualities of BALANCE (do the flavours balance with the level of alcohol, or is one harsher than another?); LENGTH (does the taste linger or disappear straight away?); INTENSITY (Can you easily recognise the strongest flavours?) and COMPLEXITY (Is there more than one defining taste?).

The tasting will be hosted by Damian Bond of the Birkdale Craft Distillery who has already prepared 5 different blends of gin formulations. Each blend contained the same set of botanicals, but the exact amounts included vary between the blends, changing the taste enormously. It builds on the Unique Gin concept which allows the consumer to blend their own bespoke gin.

James Birchall (Owner of the Tea Rooms) contacted Damian as soon as he saw the articles in the Southport papers and they have been planning this event ever since. The 14th March has been selected as the night for the blind tasting.

James says. “We have a vast selection of Gin already which sells brilliantly to our customers, we are enthusiastic about our presentation and our ‘Gin of the Week’ is always successful. Teaming up with Birkdale Craft Distillery is the next step and we are thrilled to do so. We need 30 tasters to help in our selection. Our regulars will be the priority, but if it is anything like the Birkdale Gin launch, we will be oversubscribed, so please come into the Tea Rooms and register interest or e-mail to tea_roomsventures@yahoo.com

The event is free, but tasters will be asked to make a donation to charity, which will be Parkinson’s UK.

The highest scoring blend will become the Tea Rooms Gin as chosen by the customers’ of the Tea Rooms. Damian will make up the very first bottle on the premises, which will be auctioned for Charity.

The Tea Rooms is located a couple of doors down from Birkdale train station and buses run frequently from Southport town centre. There is street parking outside the Tea Rooms, with most having 2 hours parking. Alternatively park in the nearby train station car park for free parking all day.

Birkdale Craft Distillery is interested to work with any local restaurant, golf club, hotel or bar that wants to offer their own label high end gin, so please contact me at damian.bond@birkdaledistillery.com if that is of interest.”
