Tailor stitches up town in favour of Ormskirk

A fashion store owner says he chose Ormskirk over Southport for his new business as the town is too run down for him.

Chris Appleton launched his clothes-altering shop, Chapple, in Church Walks, having previously worked for a company in Wigan.

Chris explained: “As I was looking around for where to start my business, originally it was going to be either Southport or Wigan because those are the two places I know best.

“But looking at Southport as a town there are more empty shops and it looks run down.

“I found Ormskirk tidier, with fewer empty shops and more going on with the markets.”
