Supporting Local Communities and Andy’s Man Club Through Basketball — Supported by MT Auto Parts

    By Bob Hammond1st March 2026

Barnsley’s AMC Basketball Event returns on Sunday 28 June 2026 for a final game day at Honeywell Sports Village — a community-led tournament built around two clear goals: supporting Andy’s Man Club and backing local families and communities in need of help.

The event has always been about more than a scoreboard. Yes, it raises money, but the bigger purpose is awareness: reminding people that men do have a support network, and that speaking up is normal, not something to hide. That message sits at the heart of Andy’s Man Club, and it’s the reason this tournament has become a yearly fixture rather than a one-off fundraiser.

From a small local run to a proper annual fixture

The first event started in 2022 with 27 players, most of them local. Since then, it has grown into an established summer date with around 60 players each year, with people travelling in to be part of it.

As it’s grown, the day has built its own traditions and identity. Past events have seen All-Star T-shirts produced, plus personalised referee tops, giving the tournament a recognisable “AMC” feel. Earlier editions also included raffle-style prizes, and over the years plenty of basketballs have been won and taken home, adding to the atmosphere that makes the day feel like a genuine occasion.

What to expect on the day

The final event is set up to feel like a full experience rather than a quick tournament:

    • A full day of basketball (9:00 am–5:00 pm) at Honeywell Sports Village
    • Prize opportunities throughout the day, with giveaways and moments built into the schedule
    • A closing All-Star game, designed as the “end-of-day” highlight
    • A community-first atmosphere, with players and supporters turning up for a cause, not just competition

One of the headline touches this year is the official NBA game ball, bringing a proper “big day” feel from the very first tip-off.

    Sponsors wanted

With the final edition now confirmed, the focus is on making this one count. Sponsors are being invited to get involved to help raise more money, strengthen the prize side of the day, and support the wider community’s aims for 2026.

Support can be as simple as sponsoring an element of the event, contributing prizes, or backing costs that help the day run smoothly. The aim is the same: increase the impact for Andy’s Man Club and for local families and communities who need support.

Supported by MT Auto Parts for the third year in a row

This year, MT Auto Parts is supporting the AMC Basketball Event for the third year in a row, helping to power the final edition and backing the event’s wider purpose.

As a family-run BMW dismantler business rooted in South Yorkshire, Thurnscoe, MT Auto Parts’ support is about getting behind something that genuinely matters locally — bringing people together, raising awareness, and supporting causes that strengthen the community.
